Epidemico collaborates with the Athena Project to improve crisis communication

Project Athena is a three-year EU funded project aimed at using communication and social media to protect civilians and cities in times of crises. Athena was launched in January 2014 and is a multi-national, multi-partner project with collaborators from government, academia, first responder organizations, and the private sector. The project seeks to capitalize on under-utilized public responses as a resource to save lives during critical incidents by compiling a set of best practice guidelines and developing a suite of prototype software. Epidemico is leading the mobile app development, which will augment crisis response by joining citizens’ conversations, adding an enabling voice and targeting civilians’ actions. Epidemico’s first year achievements include a prototype of the Athena Application, a mobile app on iOS and Android that allow citizens to share and receive information during a crisis.
