Intern: Chinese Language Analyst
Job Description
We are seeking a Chinese Language Analyst at our Boston-based public health informatics company. The analyst will
- Review online news articles related to food safety in Chinese and English acquired by our automated system;
- Identify and manually correct mistakes made by automated system;
- Provide feedback on the automated system performance and identify areas for improvement;
- Write monthly report detailing updates to the curation system and case studies of relevant breaking news in areas of food safety.
The position will require 20 hours/week, with a flexible schedule. Some hours may be performed at home, but must be in the office at least once a week. All 20 hours of the first two weeks must be in the office for training.

Requirements
- Fluency in Chinese (Mandarin) and English language, spoken and written
- Cultural literacy in Chinese Internet language (e.g. colloquial terminology used online)
- Excellent Internet search skills
- Familiarity with Google & Baidu search strategies, Weibo, Twitter, and blogging software
- Ability to take initiative and work independently
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Bonus
- Academic background in epidemiology or public health (BSc or MSc)
- Experience with mobile health technology
- Familiarity with food contaminant and associated terms
- Cantonese language skills
