Essam has a BS in Chemistry, and a MBA in Finance and Economics. His favorite part of working at Epidemico is having the ability to work on a multitude of projects using different frameworks.

Sue has been coding for almost 2 decades, most recently with the Computational Epidemiology Group at Boston Children's Hospital. Epidemico makes Sue happy because of the group's collective knowledge, experience, and innovative spirit yielding positive change in public health. Sue is living the dream with her husband Pete and 2 sons, Ian and Ty.

Aranka is a PhD epidemiologist specialized in global health. Aranka loves to see how Epidemico’s digital tools illuminate complex and untapped data for advanced decisions, whether in conflict zones or corporate headquarters. She is inspired by science, low-cost innovations, urban meccas, and the ocean.

Chi's background is in global health and infectious disease epidemiology. Her favorite aspect of working at Epidemico is that strangers are actually interested in her work. Chi is still an avid fan of Grey's Anatomy.

Wenjie is trained in Epidemiology from Harvard, Biochemistry from GW, and Bioengineering from China. He specializes in product design and project management. His favorite aspect of working at Epidemico is being able to actually make a difference by providing public health IT solutions, being surrounded by smart people with diverse backgrounds, and learning from them everyday. Wenjie is a strong believer that spices can cure all diseases, and used to make and sell spicy sauce sandwiches in college.

Lucas' background is in Mobile Development (iOS/Android). What he loves most about Epidemico is building products that really help people. Lucas is passionate about gaming and astrophysics.

Art has an MBA from St. Joseph's University, and has spent his career providing technical solutions to Life Science companies. What Art loves most about Epidemico is that it is a unique organization comprised of scientists with varying backgrounds, which enables the provision of both scientific and technical expertise in all client solutions. When not immersed in all things Life Science, Art enjoys his time on the water.

Matt has a background in geospatial application development and wildlife biology. His favorite aspect of working at Epidemico is getting to play with maps everyday. Matt has a scar from trying to attach a radio collar to a very angry white-tailed deer back in the 90s.

John Brownstein, Ph.D. is a co-Founder of Epidemico, Professor of Pediatrics and Biomedical Informatics at Harvard Medical School, and is the Chief Innovation Officer of Boston Children’s Hospital. He has been at the forefront of the development and application of digital health tools including HealthMap.org, an internet-based global infectious disease intelligence system, and was trainged at Yale as an Epidemiologist. His favorite aspect of working at Epidemico is the mission driven team (and the occasional Scotch o'clock). John had a cameo in the movie Contagion.

Robin picked up a number of programming languages over 20 years as a consultant, including java, spring, php, node.js, focusing mostly on backend web development. For Robin, working at Epidemico is about the people, the projects, being able to focus on what matters, getting it done fast. When Robin is not coding, she is painting. Nabarun is an epidemiologist; over the course of 15 long years he earned degrees from Princeton (molecular biology), Yale (infectious diseases) and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (epidemiology), where he retains a faculty appointment. As a technologist, Nabarun loves seeing how people use the tools Epidemico develops in exhilarating and unexpected ways. Although Nabarun loves to cook and grill, he recently become allergic to mammal meat, resulting from a tick bite (no joke)!

Clark is a software engineer, PhD in biomedical engineering. He loves working on computer science challenges that also impact people's health. Clark has survived as a year-round commuter cyclist.

Michael holds a Masters Degree in Public Health from the Harvard School of Public Health. His work draws on a decade of experience in the fields of population health informatics and harm reduction, with a focus on identifying and removing barriers to well-being in our everyday lives. He enjoys developing tools that support happier and healthier lives, and loves working with a team that shares the spirit of innovation. Michael worked on a dairy farm in the rural French Alps during his high school summers, and makes a wicked Reblochon.
A native of South Florida, Ciara attended the University Of Central Florida and was a teacher for 3 years before moving to Boston and working in startup operations. Her favorite aspect of Epidemico is working alongside & learning from her incredibly smart (and fun!) colleagues about fascinating global health issues. Ciara went to the Jr. Olympics as a figure skater and has recently hit 4 consecutive bullseyes while playing Darts.

Lou has multiple years of experience in development, system architectures, and operations. He has managed multiple teams for Fortune 500 companies and startups. Lou loves that Epidemico has a fast-paced environment and an amazing technical team. Lou's first paying IT job was at the age of 8, when he developed a telecommunications infrastructure for Rhode Island school departments.

Robin, PhD, is a chemical engineer turned venture capitalist and serial entrepreneur. Driving Epidemico, she is passionate about pushing conventional thinking and customary boundaries. Robin enjoys constant activity and warm weather.

Derek studied Maths at University of Chicago (BA). His favorite aspect about Epidemico is getting to work with a diverse array of technologies to solve an even more diverse array of problems.
Derek plays the drums and produces hip hop beats.

Julia has a background in Epidemiology and Public Health Informatics. Her favorite aspects of working at Epidemico are the projects and her awesome co-workers. Julia loves all foods aside from licorice, and is a board game enthusiast (once won a game lasting over 3 hours).

Sumiko is a veterinarian and PhD epidemiologist who directed operations at HealthMap for several years before coming to Epidemico. Epidemico is heaven for a disease data geek and public health advocate because we create innovative disease surveillance techniques that can be rapidly translated into public good. Sumiko delights in bats, piano, popcorn, good sci-fi, crazy vet stories, and her husband and son (she once drove a hamster across state lines to perform a limb amputation; client renamed pet to Tripod).

Chris attended Princeton for his AB in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and Yale for an MESc in Environmental Science. His favorite aspect of working at Epidemico is tracking the black-market price of prescription drugs. Chris used to have a pet rooster named Chanticleer.
Syed's background remains (by choice) a mixture, part data analyst, part engineer, and part physicist; wearing different hats keeps him feeling sharp. The challenges at Epidemico carry a similar weight as those he finds in an academic setting but in a more tangible deliverable timeframe. Syed likes the Beatles, traveling, and was a lightweight (60 Kg) and junior welterweight (64 Kg) amateur boxing champion.

Kate uses recognizable design patterns and simple, minimalist design elements to shape the user experience of Epidemico's public health solutions. Her favorite aspect of Epidemico is working with smart, energetic people with a "yes, we can do that" attitude. Kate is working towards a black belt in Tae Kwon Do so she can keep her 3 sons in check.

Carrie earned her MBA and MPH degrees at Boston University and has over five years of health sector experience. She typically hates wearing hats, but loves getting to wear several in her role at Epidemico, along with working with a fun group of passionate people. Carrie spends her free time learning about psych music and sailing.

Nico has an academic and professional background in digital and biological systems. At Epidemico, he oversees full-stack data technologies and analytics. Nico is an avid sailor and skier.

Harold's background is in Computer Science and Physics, but he now focuses on modern web application development. He loves that Epidemico doesn't prescribe how to build things, instead trusting that its team will work together to find the best way. When Harold is not programming, he is probably salsa dancing or learning a new language.
Kelly is a financial and operational executive with experience building and managing finance, human resources, and administrative infrastructure for growing technology companies. A serial start-up junkie, Kelly enjoys the entrepreneurial spirit at Epidemico. Kelly looks forward to one day opening Epidemico South so she can escape the Boston winters.
Carly has a MPH in Health Policy & Management, and previously worked with the CDC, Boston Children's Hospital, and Israel's Ministry of Health. She feels fortunate to have her profession and personal interests be one and the same. Along with being a public health advancement fanatic, Carly is a Miami Hurricanes enthusiast and enjoys taking academic, dance & spin classes.
